To ensure candidates have the relevant knowledge to develop and deliver a suitable training syllabus to their staff

Course Content
Day 1:
Introduction, Job descriptions and the environment, Rationale behind course and objectives - WHY TRAIN, Benefits and requirements of training, Brief history of H&S legislation, Statistics, Limbs at risk,  Cost of accidents to the employee and the employer, Legal requirements, European legislation, Duties of employer, Duties of employee. Staff, self employed, visitors and contractors, The Spine Structure and use, and other limbs.
Day 2:
Muscles, tendons and ligaments, Static and dynamic movement, The kinetics and ergonomics of lifting and transporting, The kinetics and ergonomics of pushing and pulling, Top heavy bending,
Assessing the task, Good and bad body movements, Individual capabilities - Age and sex, Occupational health and Environmental factors.Good housekeeping,  Keeping records, hazards and risks and Manual handling awareness and responsibilities
Day 3:
Risk assessment general and manual handling,  Location and position of loads, Reorganisation of workplace, Racking and stacking - good practice, Different loads, Team lifting, Mechanical aids
