Aim
To provide persons responsible for safety with an understanding of the responsibilities of
employers and others under health and safety legislation and to give them the practical knowledge
to put in place and manage health and safety procedures within their area of responsibility.
Course Content
Main concepts of HASAWA its emergence, the HSE and an appreciation of previous
safety legislation.
Common law duties and main concepts of employers liability
Standard rules and contractual conditions of contracts for sub contractors.
The role of the manager / supervisor in accident prevention and security.
The theory of accident prevention and promotion of occupational health.
The accident experience picture nationally
Accident investigation and reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrence

Basic site safety inspections and report writing.
